India has been ranked to have the best educational institutions in the world despite of the flaws it has in the educational system. There are hundreds and thousands of colleges located in different parts of a state and all of them are affiliated to a regional university. Among the few colleges that were set up first in india comes the C.M.S. College Kottayam, the very first liberal college of arts and sciences in Kerela. And the first missionary institution to impart western style education was the Scottish church college, Calcutta.
Among the thousands of big and small colleges few have been ranked as the best institutions in India. Some of them are as described below:
1.IIT BOMBAY :
The Indian Institute of technology has been crowned with the #1 position among all the educational institutions in India.It was set up in 1958 and was the first IIT to be set up with foreign assistance. IT has a total of 14 academic departments, six centre’s, one school, and three interdisciplinary programmers. Its funded from UNESCO in roubles from the Soviet Union. After completing more than five decades, around 39,000 engineers and scientists have graduated from the institute. The educational programmers here include not only the physical sciences and engineering but also include social sciences such as Economics, English, Sociology, Philosophy, Psychology and management studies. The faculty of the institute has won many prestigious awards and recognitions, including nine Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar awards.
The students of these not only be in the advantageous position of being a part of such an honorable institution but also enjoy staying in a place like Mumbai which is regarded as the “city of dreams”.
2.IIT KANPUR :
It was established in 1959 as one of the first IITs under the existence of US research universities and as a part of Kanpur Indo-American program. It is located in the Grand trunk road in Uttar Pradesh covering a campus of around 10855 acres. It carries out original research of significance and technology development.
Recently the students have made nano satellites named “Jugnu” and it was given by President Pratibha Patil to ISRO for launch.
3.IIT MADRAS :
IIT Madras offers undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees across 15 disciplines in Engineering, Sciences, Humanities and Management. It is located on Chennai’s Sardar Patel Road; Chennai.It was founded in 1959 with technical and financial assistance from the government of the former West Germany. IIT Madras was ranked #312 in the QS World University Rankings of 2012, internationally.
4.IIT DELHI :
Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi is located in Hauz Khas, South Delhi with a campus of 325 acres. It was established in 1961. The Government of India negotiated with the British Government for collaboration in setting up an Institute of Technology at Delhi. The College of Engineering & Technology was registered as a Society on 14th June 1960.
5.INDIAN INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE :
It is located in Bangalore, India. It was established in 1909.Departments and centres in the Institute are broadly assigned to two categories: science and engineering. Two Deans, one each for Science and Engineering administer their respective category.
The high quality education and the academic environment that it has provided have made it #5 in ranking among the Indian educational institutions.
